Réver reprova violência e espera prorrogar momento ruim do Vasco

Vamos buscar a vitória’, disse Réver.

Amir will not appeal ICC ban

Mohammad Amir, the Pakistan fast bowler, has decided not to appeal, in the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the five-year ban imposed on him by the ICC for spot-fixing during the 2010 Lord’s Test against England.”Amir told the ICC earlier this week through his lawyer that he would not be appealing against his five-year ban,” an ICC spokesman told ESPNcricinfo. The decision was taken after legal experts said they believed the possibility of a successful outcome was reduced by Amir pleading guilty before the ICC and a London court. Last November, Amir and team-mates Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif were given sentences for bowling deliberate no-balls during the Test.Amir pleaded guilty and did not contest his case in London’s Southwark Crown Court. He returned home on Sunday, nearly a month after being released from Portland Young Offenders Institution in Dorset, where he had served half of a six-month sentence for his part in the spot-fixing scam. He is currently serving his ICC ban, which ends in 2015.At the trial, the judge Mr Justice Cooke, said Amir was “unsophisticated, uneducated and impressionable” and “readily leant on by others”.Amir, who returned with his London-based solicitor Sajida Malik, hasn’t yet spoken about his future. In the meantime, the PCB said it was keen to rehabilitate him till he serves his ban.The PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf insisted that Amir was still an asset and a world-class bowler. “We will consider him for selection once his ban is over,” Ashraf said in Islamabad after the governing board meeting. The PCB is likely to involve Amir in an education programme, but is also keen to talk to him about the spot-fixing case. Under ICC regulations, a player who has been banned must go through a rehabilitation course before returning to cricket.

'No fear of Australia at all' – Bracewell

New Zealand seamer Doug Bracewell has said his team has the “mongrel” to topple Australia on their own turf, ahead of the two-Test series that gets underway at the Gabba from December 1

Doug Bracewell: We are the underdogs so it gives us that mongrel to go out and show that we’re better than them”•AFP

New Zealand seamer Doug Bracewell has said his team has the “mongrel” to topple Australia on their own turf, ahead of the two-Test series that gets underway at the Gabba from December 1. Bracewell, now in his second tour with the national team, said New Zealand are capable of playing a tougher brand of cricket.”There’s definitely no fear of Australia at all,” Bracewell told the . “We’ve spoken about being more ruthless and having more mongrel as a team. Whether that’s guys sledging or however they go about their business, we just want to be a tougher, more consistent team.”New Zealand haven’t beaten their trans-Tasman rivals in a Test since 1993, and have not won in Australia for 26 years. However, the current Australian line-up they’re up against at the Gabba is already depleted with the loss of Mitchell Johnson, Shane Watson, Patrick Cummins, Ryan Harris and Shaun Marsh. The bowling attack features three rookie fast bowlers, with Peter Siddle leading the attack.Despite Australia’s early setback with injuries to key players, Bracewell called his side the “underdogs” who have nothing to fear.”Before we came over we said we want to be more aggressive and ruthless, especially playing the Aussies,” Bracewell said. “They like to think they’re the best team in the world and what not. We are the underdogs so it gives us that mongrel to go out and show that we’re better than them – that we can beat them. We’ll be looking to take it to them and show no fear.”New Zealand are coming off a short series in Zimbabwe, where they sneaked a Test win despite a spirited fightback by the home side. Bracewell said certain senior players and the coach John Wright are responsible for shaping the team’s self-belief.”It’s mainly come from the coach and the likes of Rossco [captain Ross Taylor], [Daniel] Vettori and [Brendon] McCullum,” Bracewell said.He said a win in Australia is long overdue. “We owe it to the New Zealand public to try to get a win over here,” Bracewell said. “I know our followers will respect us a lot more if we beat Australia over here. We’re thinking about that. It’s something to get inspired about.”Bracewell, who took a five-wicket haul in his debut Test in Zimbabwe, was in good form in the drawn tour match against Australia A, scoring an unbeaten 73 and taking four wickets.

England middle-order battle heats up

Jos Buttler couldn’t help Somerset end their run of second-place finishes in county cricket, but gave another demonstration of his talent against Surrey at Lord’s. The day after Jonny Bairstow burst onto the international stage with a matchwinning innings against India, Buttler gave his own eye-catching demonstration with 86 off 72 balls in the CB40 final. There is an increasing battle for places in the England limited-overs teams after Bairstow and Ravi Bopara took the opportunities presented by the absences of Kevin Pietersen and Eoin Morgan. Those two senior players will also miss the Twenty20s against West Indies this week – while Morgan is ruled out of the India tour next month – which means an opportunity to impress before the squads for India are announced.Bairstow’s unbeaten 41 off 21 balls at Cardiff has assured him of a trip to the subcontinent, but Buttler, who was called into the one-day squad as cover for the final match, is perhaps battling Ben Stokes, the Durham allrounder, for a place in the touring party. Stokes played the first four matches against India, although he only batted twice and struggled against spin.He is also still unable to bowl due to the broken finger he suffered earlier in the season, so Buttler’s performance at Lord’s came at a good moment and his county captain, Marcus Trescothick, believes he showed his rapid development.”He can play some great innings just like that,” Trescothick said. “It was quite reserved for Jos. We’ve all seen it when he bangs it left, right and centre out of the ground. It was very mature. It was the perfect knock for the situation of the game.”It was great to watch. We’ve seen enough great times of Jos over the last couple of years to justify him being in the international team,” he added. “If he can continue to play like that and get the opportunity to play in international games, England supporters are going to see some good performances because he is a serious player.”Buttler’s place in the Twenty20 squad to face West Indies means he didn’t travel with Somerset to the Champions League on Sunday although could link up with the squad if they progress through the qualifying stage in Hyderabad. The odds are stacked against them, however, as they have two games in two days with the first less than 24 hours after arriving in India. Yet if he doesn’t reach India with his county, Buttler is making a strong case to go there with his country.

Derbyshire target Collingwood

Paul Collingwood could be in line for a shock move to Derbyshire next season after the club was given permission to speak to him about a deal. The county tabled a 28-day approach and Durham, who want to keep Collingwood, aren’t blocking the attempt to lure him away from the team he has played for throughout his career. Collingwood’s name would certainly fit the ‘major signing’ the new chairman Chris Grant promised. However, it would be a major surprise to see Collingwood leave Durham after so many years of loyal service and he has always spoken strongly about his links with his native North East.”We’ve told Paul we want him to stay,” Durham chief executive, David Harker, told the . “He has a year left on his contract and we are talking to him all the time about what he wants to do next.”We are relaxed about the situation. Paul has had a big change from what he was doing with England this summer, and it is only right he has a look at what is out there and what different options there are for him.”It appears that Collingwood’s international career is over after he lost the Twenty20 captaincy following his retirement from Test cricket at the end of the Ashes. He was left out of England’s recent limited-overs squads against Sri Lanka although has shown some decent county form since returning from knee surgery, including his first Durham hundred since 2005.Earlier in the season Collingwood said he was enjoying being back in the county game after barely playing for Durham since becoming an England regular.”All I can say is that so far I’ve really enjoyed being back at Durham,” he told Spin magazine. “I’ve always felt part of the club – it’s where I grew up and learnt the game, after all – but I haven’t really felt a part of the team for a few years.”Since 2005, when I scored quite heavily and forced my way into the England side, I’ve probably only played a game or two a season. So the prospect of being part of a team that could challenge for the County Championship is very exciting.”

Akram questions Misbah appointment

Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan fast bowler, has questioned the PCB’s decision to appoint 36-year-old Misbah-ul-as Haq as the limited-overs captain

ESPNcricinfo staff21-May-2011Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan captain, has questioned the PCB’s decision to appoint 36-year-old Misbah-ul-as Haq as the limited-overs captain in place of Shahid Afridi, saying the move is “at best a stop-gap arrangement.””The present Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq is on the wrong side of 30 and I don’t see him leading the side beyond six to eight months”, Akram told on Friday. Earlier this week the PCB decided to hand Misbah the reins for the two ODIs against Ireland at the end of the month, but chose not to offer a reason for the move. It is likely, however, that the decision came after the board decided they had had enough with Afridi’s penchant for awkward public statements. The latest situation arose when Afridi returned from the Caribbean and hinted at unhappiness with coach Waqar Younis over matters of selection.Out of 34 ODIs, Afridi had won 18 and lost 15; a stretch which included tough series against England and South Africa, and took Pakistan to the semi-finals of the 2011 World Cup, and Akram believes those results mean it was wrong to sack Afridi over such “trivial matters”.”Arguments between captains and coaches are not new in Pakistan cricket,” Akram said. “Afridi was hailed as a national hero after the World Cup, and came back from the West Indies after winning the ODI series only to find out he has been sacked. What is the PCB up to?”It is a wrong step taken by PCB, and only [chairman] Ijaz Butt is to be blamed for this. In Pakistan, the coach wants all the power and when it doesn’t happen, the fight begins.”Akram was not the only one critical of the board’s decision. Abdul Qadir, former Pakistan legspinner, felt the board should not have been so quick to change captains. “Afridi should also be careful in giving media statements,” he told . “But the fact is changing the captaincy is a cricketing decision and this one is not a sagacious one. Dropping Afridi as captain and retaining him in the side to play under Misbah appears a bad move,” he said. And former chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said the PCB was to blame and called for the government to intervene. “Players are the ones who bring in money for the board and attract people to the sport. Afridi didn’t commit a crime if he spoke about problems he was facing as captain. Instead of listening to him the board sacked him as captain this is unjust and unfair and the government should take notice of this.”
