Veja as notas.

VASCO

5.5

5,0
Jorge Henrique
Correu, mas não passou disso. Não levou perigo ao gol de Léo. Teve a participação menos importante no ataque.

7,5
Thalles

Contudo, participou bem do último gol vascaíno

5,0
Caio Monteiro
Teve metade do segundo tempo para mostrar serviço. Não conseguiu e não comprometeu.

Evander

4,5
Marcos Junior
Sem contribuição coletiva para o time. Apagado em campo.

6,0
Matheus Salgado

Leeds’ Luke Ayling proved why he’s Bielsa’s biggest masterclass in West Brom thrashing

Since joining from Bristol City, Luke Ayling has been one of Leeds United’s most consistent performers, playing well over 150 games in less than five seasons at the club. And under Marcelo Bielsa, the 29-year-old has been a beacon of reliability, figuring week-in and week-out for the Whites. This season has seen him split his game-time at both right-back and centre-back, and on Wednesday night against West Brom, he was once again used in the middle.Bielsa’s side ran riot at the Hawthorns, racing to a four-goal lead at half-time, before a Raphina strike mid-way through the second-half put the icing on the cake of an emphatic 5-0 win away from home in the Premier League. And whilst the Baggies hardly laid a glove on the visitors, there’s no questioning that Ayling looked absolutely supreme at the heart of defence, boasting a superb reading of the game and coolness in possession. As per Sofascore, he had 133 touches of the ball and made a whopping 109 passes too – both of which were team-highs. Added to that, he also won all eight of his duels on the night (four on the ground and four in the air), and completed nine of his 15 attempted long balls. His rapid progress under Bielsa has been something to behold, and a couple of Leeds fans on Twitter seemed to think so too, with one hailing his development over the past couple of years, and describing him as a “top-level” centre-back now.

Bielsa’s long and illustrious career has seen him work with some of the world’s best talents, but his coaching at Elland Road and improving Ayling in particular has been nothing short of fantastic.

Capable of playing in a back-four or a back-three, or as a full-back or as a centre-back, Ayling just seamlessly adapts to whatever his manager demands of him, and has been a consistently impressive presence for the Whites.

They may have missed out on Ben White in the summer, but Ayling is showing that they don’t really miss him at all.

Steven Gerrard must trust Glasgow Rangers’ Calvin Bassey following Borna Barisic injury

Steven Gerrard must trust Glasgow Rangers left-back Calvin Bassey to fill the void left by Borna Barisic’s potential injury, when the Light Blues face Livingston at Ibrox in their first game in the Scottish Premiership since the Old Firm derby.

Gerrard’s side suffered an injury blow as Barisic limped off in the 2-0 win over Standard Liege in the Europa League just before the break. He got up gingerly to his feet and managed to walk to the sidelines, but he appeared to be suffering some discomfort.

Barisic has become a mainstay in the first team ever since he arrived at the Ibrox outfit, with the left-footed defender making 10 appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season. The Rangers boss’ trust has been repaid as the Croatia international has scored a goal and supplied four assists so far, via Transfermarkt.  And Gerrard confirmed he is a doubt for the clash with Livingston.

He said: “My only concern at the moment is Barisic. I’d say he’s a doubt right now. We’re going to image him as a precaution this afternoon. It’s not a big problem. There’s a chance he could pull through but we’ll check it out this afternoon.”

If the rumours are true and Gerrard is forced to ring a change, the Liverpool legend must look to hand Bassey his first start for the club since the 5-1 win over Motherwell last month, having been impressed by his “outstanding” performance against Standard Liege on Thursday night.

Bassey has shown he is hungry to learn and develop as a player, which is something that hasn’t gone unnoticed by Gerrard, who admitted the 20-year-old has given him a lot to think about for the weeks ahead.

“I thought he was outstanding. For someone who has very little experience. To come into a game of that level and perform like he did. I’m really proud of his performance,” Gerrard said, via Glasgow Live.

“Fantastic kid. A kid who wants to learn, who wants to grow and evolve. In time we’re confident we can help polish him up and make him even better than he is.

“He’s got really interesting attributes right now and he showed them last night which was fantastic to see.

“He’s in a real good place and he’s ready. That’s the key thing. Every time he’s been called upon since he walked in he’s been ready and he’s produced.”

Gerrard has lots of reasons why fans should be excited by Bassey’s performances in the domestic and European competitions. Per SofaScore, he has averaged 1.5 tackles per game in the Scottish Premiership this season so far. By contrast, Barisic is only managed 0.8 tackles per game in the Scottish top flight, via SofaScore.

SofaScore also gave Bassey a high grade of 7 for his efforts against Standard Liege – he made two tackles, one clearance and one interception, whilst he also won five out of his seven duels and wasn’t dribbled past at all – a measure of his defensive strength.

Despite his young age, the Englishman is already showing glimpses of his obvious potential, which is exactly what his former teammate at Leicester City, James Maddison, was talking about when he first moved to Ibrox in the summer. The England international wished him good luck on his official Instagram post and described him as “some player.”

Now, he just needs to be playing regularly in order to continue his development. What better way to show what you can do than by stepping in for Barisic against Livingston?

Newcastle must surely give Rodrigo Vilca a chance to shine

If you’re a Newcastle fan who’s been sitting through games this season without giving into the urge of falling asleep or tearing your hair out, then fair play.

Make no mistake about it, the Magpies have been a bore to watch, almost too afraid to launch attacks in fear of getting a nosebleed. It’s no surprise that they rank bottom for both shots on goal and shots on target in the Premier League. That’s not to mention the fact they seem allergic to wanting to hold possession too, ranking third-worst in that.

Steve Bruce’s side are desperate for some excitement and energy to lift spirits, and even without fans being able to make their voices heard inside St James’ Park, the discontentment is growing immeasurably with each passing on-pitch disappointment.

The Newcastle boss however, could change the mood with a bold selection call. Namely, the introduction of summer signing Rodrigo Vilca.

The Peruvian arrived from Deportivo Municipal, and has been featuring for the Magpies’ U23s side, playing fives times. Speaking back when the club had confirmed his arrival, Chris Hogg, Newcastle United’s lead player development coach for the U23s, said: “We’re delighted to have Rodrigo here. He’s an exciting attacking player, and we’ll be hoping to see that attacking ability. We’ll be looking to give him the opportunity to improve with us and be a part of Newcastle United’s future.”

It might be very early to bring him in, especially given that he has only played a handful of times for the reserves. But the first-team are absolutely crying out for someone to bring something new to the side, an unpredictability that gets fans off their sofas.

Capable of playing off the right or just behind the striker, Vilca can just help Bruce change things up a bit. The Magpies are aimlessly drifting at the moment, and the manager’s reluctance to freshen things up both in terms of personnel and tactics is holding them back. Unleashing their 21-year-old summer arrival could hold the key to fixing that.

Sheffield Wednesday: Fans want Jacob Murphy back at the club for next season

The Championship season ended last night and Sheffield Wednesday lost their final game 2-1 to Middlesbrough. There hasn’t been a lot for the Hillsborough faithful to cheer about in 2020 as they only picked up four victories since 22 December.

They finished in 16th, which is four positions lower than last year. Plus, with the season ending, it also means that on-loan players are returning to their parent clubs, and many fans would like to see the Owls attempt to sign Jacob Murphy permanently for next term.

The winger, who was signed on loan from Premier League side Newcastle, played 33 times in the Championship for the Owls, scoring nine goals and picking up four assists, per Transfermarkt.

This ranks him as the second highest scorer at the club in 2019/20, per WhoScored, whilst he had the joint-third most assists and it emphasises why a lot of supporters would like to see him return next season.

He will for sure be a player that they either need to bring back or try to replace as he provided a lot of attacking threat for Wednesday.

Here is what these Owls fans said following the post:

Wednesday fans, what are your thoughts on Murphy? Comment below with your views!

West Ham set for another GSB failure as Matty Cash edges towards Villa move

It appears West Ham have lost the race to land one of their mooted transfer targets this summer and there’s only one place to aim the blame…

What’s the word?

According to the Daily Mirror last month, the Hammers had offered £10m for Nottingham Forest right-back Matty Cash but now it appears he’ll be moving elsewhere.

The Independent are claiming that a £15m deal has been agreed with Premier League rivals Aston Villa with personal terms soon to be agreed.

It’s suggested that the 23-year-old became one of the Championship’s most sought-after players after the Reds failed in their promotion push – Fulham were another team keen on signing him.

GSB failing

This is not the first time that the Irons have missed out on a target nor will it be the last, however, Cash would have been a very shrewd signing to bolster David Moyes’ backline.

The young winger-turned-defender delivered three goals and five assists whilst averaging 3 clearances, 2.6 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 1.1 key passes per game, via WhoScored.

And his form over the past season or two has been well regarded – respected chief football writer at the Times, Henry Winter, believes Cash “looks Premier League class” while Quest TV’s Sam Parkin labelled his season as “outstanding”.

Ryan Fredericks doesn’t appear to be the best of options on the right side, especially when it comes to attacking, which is something the Forest sensation would evidently resolve going by his figures for the season.

The 27-year-old could only muster up three assists, so it’s no wonder that the Hammers struggled to create chances and quickly became embroiled in a relegation battle.

All GSB had to do was offer £5m more, even if it came in the form of add-ons or instalments as that’s what has been reportedly accepted from Villa.

Their lack of investment this summer is damning, so there could well be another dog fight at the bottom of the table unless they soon open their chequebook.

AND in other news, Irons may have the perfect Declan Rice successor right under their nose…

Newcastle United: Takeover may be on; James Pallotta revealed as possible new buyer if he can sell Roma

A takeover of Newcastle United may still be on as Tuttomercatoweb revealed that James Pallotta has been talked about as a possible buyer of the Tyneside club if he can get his proposed sale of AS Roma over the line.

According to the outlet, the sale of the Italian club is getting closer, as the co-owner and chairman Pallotta is looking around to potentially invest in a new team for the future.

He was associated with the Magpies at the start of the year but categorically denied this himself, however, it seems as if the old rumours are creeping back in again as he emerges as a potential new candidate to take over from Mike Ashley.

Indeed, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) group, which consisted of the Middle Eastern crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS), his country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the businesswoman and head of PCP Capital Partners Amanda Staveley and the billionaire Reuben brothers, who are originally from India but are now based in London, have pulled the plug on their own £300 million deal with the chief executive of Sports Direct.

The Saudi-led consortium felt as if the Premier League were simply taking too long to approve of their bid, which is perhaps understandable given that the new 2020/21 season is fast approaching, coupled up with the fact that the summer transfer window has officially opened.

Nevertheless, Pallotta may step forward as a possible new buyer at St. James’ Park, but this will solely depend on whether he can sell Roma first.
