Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, the Pakistan fast bowler, has been awarded a central contract for 2009 and been placed in the bottom of three categories. Naved was recalled to Pakistan’s one-day international squad after cutting ties with the unofficial ICL and has been put put in category C of the central contracts system.The PCB had earlier included Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq and Imran Nazir in the central contract system after the trio quit the ICL.Players bracketed in category C receive Rs 100,000 per month.

What’s the talk?

Magpies reporter Liam Kennedy has claimed that PIF will make multiple ‘marquee’ signings and has admitted that they could come in January, although they may wait until the end of the season.

He told GIVEMESPORT:

“I think Newcastle will make a couple of marquee signings, it might not be in January, although I do think they might try and do something in January.”

Buzzing

Newcastle fans will surely be buzzing with this claim from Kennedy as it suggests that they can look forward to some exciting transfer business in the next two windows.

Although he has not said that they will 100% go for a marquee addition in January, he does believe that it will come eventually and that they will still try to bring players in during the winter market.

It would sensible for the club to make a few shrewd additions in January to bolster the squad in order to achieve survival, rather than splashing out the cash instantly. If they are able to sign the right players to keep the club in the Premier League then they could go into next summer in a better position to tempt stars into joining, rather than coming to them with the prospect of six months in a relegation battle.

For example, the Magpies may choose to wait for the summer months and go for someone like Dusan Vlahovic. He has recently been linked with a move to Tyneside and he could fit the profile of the marquee addition needed to lift the team to the next level.

The Serbian international is not playing Champions League football with Fiorentina and, therefore, could be more open to the move than, say, a player competing at the very top with Real Madrid or Manchester City. However, he has the performance levels to suggest that he could be an extravagant signing, with 29 Serie A strikes since the start of last season.

For now, though, Newcastle supporters will be elated at the prospect of an exciting January transfer window speculating over who may or may not arrive.

Hopefully, Eddie Howe and his team will then provide the goods in reality during the window to bolster the squad and improve the displays on the pitch in order to stave off relegation to the Championship.

Sharing an update on the future of West Ham United target Aaron Ramsey, reliable reporter Fabrizio Romano has revealed what the player is planning to do in December and January.

As per reports from Italy, the Hammers and new recruitment chief Rob Newman have their eyes on the Juventus midfielder.

Calciomercato (via Sport Witness) claim that West Ham have set their sights on Ramsey and tentative contact has already been made over a potential move.

The Old Lady are apparently eager to offload in January whilst making as much profit as possible and getting his sky high €7 million-per-year (£5.9m) salary off the books.

Now, Romano has shared an update on the player’s situation.

The Latest: Ramsey set for crunch winter call…

As per the reliable transfer journalist, Ramsey is set for a crunch ‘December/January’ transfer call over his future.

“There were no approaches from Newcastle new board for Aaron Ramsey or Mauro Icardi as things stand now,” the Italian explained on Twitter.

“Icardi is not planning to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the next few months. Ramsey will decide his future in December/January.”

The Verdict: West Ham set for wait…

As Newman and West Ham allegedly target the 30-year-old, the question remains as to whether he can indeed improve David Moyes’ options.

Dubbed ‘world class’ by international teammate Joe Allen, Ramsey clearly still has some ability in his locker going by his showings for Wales at Euro 2020.

He is also experienced in the Premier League, having notched 65 goals and 65 assists in 371 appearances for Arsenal before leaving north London.

The only object may be his wages and whether or not Moyes will want that aspect of his transfer potentially splitting the dressing room.

With four draws and three defeats in their opening seven Premier League games of the season, it’s safe to say that Southampton have not had the best of starts, especially with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side also conceding 10 goals in that time.

In addition to this poor start to the season, the Saints were also struck with some bad news after Jack Stephens picked up a serious knee injury during the 0-0 draw against Manchester City which will see him ruled out of action for 12 weeks.

Taking all of this into account, along with the sale of Jannik Vestergaard to Premier League rivals Leicester City during the recent summer transfer window, it’s looking pretty bleak for the club from a defensive point of view.

However, we feel that the club have a good defensive option to call on for the time being or at some point in the future with 19-year-old centre-back Dynel Simeu.

Southampton signed the teenager back in July on a three-year contract from fellow Premier League club Chelsea.

Since then, Simeu – who was once described as a “monster” by journalist Neil Moxley during his time with the west Londoners’ youth team – has played 90 minutes in all of Southampton under-23s’ matches across all competitions, showing how important he has been for them in his short time there, even though they haven’t managed to win any of those games.

In the two appearances Simeu has made so far this season in the EFL Trophy, the defender – who is currently valued at £900k by Transfermarkt – has averaged two interceptions, 3.5 tackles and an impressive seven clearances per game, showing that he has plenty of defensive ability in him at such a young age.

In comparison with Vestergaard, the 29-year-old Dane racked up a not too dissimilar average of 1.4 interceptions, 1.7 tackles and four clearances per game throughout Southampton’s 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Moving forward, if Simeu can continue playing regularly and improving for Southampton’s under-23 side, we see no reason why he couldn’t go on become a regular first team player for the Saints as an ideal long-term replacement for Vestergaard if given the chance.

Há seis jogos sem vencer na Série B, o Figueirense não se encontra em uma situação confortável. Atletico Madrid could target Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez if Jan Oblak is sold, according to Spanish outlet La Razon. 

The lowdown

Villa paid £17million to sign Martinez from Arsenal ahead of the 2020/21 season and committed him to a four-year contract. Transfermarkt now value the 29-year-old at £31.5m.

Martinez kept 15 clean sheets in his debut season at Villa Park – a tally bettered only by Ederson (19) and Edouard Mendy (16), ‘keepers for the Premier League and European champions respectively (via Premier League).

The latest

The report from Spain states that Atletico find themselves ‘on the brink of the salary limit’ after bringing Antoine Griezmann back to the Wanda Metropolitano from FC Barcelona. As a result, they could be forced to offload one of their ‘stars’ next summer.

Oblak, whose contract runs until 2023, could be the one to go if he doesn’t pen an extension. Atletico are aware that he may be open to the possibility of a ‘change of scenery’.

Martinez is already being considered as a potential replacement, with his performances having caught the eye of Diego Simeone.

The reigning La Liga champions recognise that it would take ‘a significant financial outlay’ to prise him away from Villa, but are confident Oblak’s sale would more than cover the cost.

The verdict

It’s no surprise that Martinez has caught the eye. His displays for Villa, and during his final season at Arsenal, have put him amongst the elite bracket of goalkeepers in the English top flight – some pundits even had him in their team of the season last term.

The prospect of competing for titles and playing Champions League football will surely tempt Martinez, but expect Villa to present Atletico with an almighty price-tag as they look to keep hold one of their best assets.

Carlton Palmer believes Adam Reach will prove to be a shrewd piece of business and could help fire West Bromwich Albion to an immediate Premier League return.

Reach was among a host of players to be released by Sheffield Wednesday when his contract expired at the end of June.

Despite suffering relegation to League One with the Owls last season, promotion favourites West Brom acquired the winger’s services a matter of days before their Championship campaign got underway with a stalemate at Bournemouth.

The 28-year-old, who boasts 306 appearances in the second tier of English football, is yet to make his Baggies debut but will give new boss Valerien Ismael another wide option following Matheus Pereira’s exit for Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal.

Former West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Palmer believes Reach will thrive under the guidance of Ismael, who moved into the Hawthorns dugout as Sam Allardyce’s successor in June.

Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, Palmer said: “I think Adam has a lot of potential.

“It’s very difficult when you’re in a struggling side which doesn’t have too much ambition or desire, but Adam is a very talented player.

“I could always see him going to somewhere like West Brom and being part of a promotion-chasing team.”
