The mood in the Indian camp, on the eve of their quarter-final, was jovial at the picturesque ICC Academy in Dubai, just behind the game’s headquarters. The fielding drill looked anything but boring and the players were raring to go. India have proved so far that their showing in the practice games – they lost both the matches – wasn’t much to go by, having not dropped a single game in the group stage. Despite those wins, their coach B Arun said the team was yet to peak. He was referring to the top-order batting, which was identified as India’s strength before the tournament started but hasn’t been consistent.In their first two games, against Pakistan and Scotland, India were in trouble at 94 for 4 and 19 for 4 respectively and needed rescuing from their lower order. The problem didn’t resurface against easier opponents Papua New Guinea, but tougher tests await them in the knockouts. Arun was not too worried about the batting order facing up to England’s pace-centric attack.”Yes it hasn’t clicked as we would have expected. In a big tournament there are bound to be butterflies and the over-eagerness to perform also,” Arun said. “Now they have kind of settled down and will hopefully peak at the right time.”Sarfaraz Khan has been the revelation in the middle order, as has the understated allrounder Deepak Hooda. Against Scotland, the pair came together after India lost their top five batsmen for 22, making the 89-run target look distant. Together, Sarfaraz and Hooda ensured India did not suffer further losses. Arun denied the perception that the team got carried away against an easier opponent.”Definitely not complacency,” Arun said. “There were maybe one or two good balls, plus a bad decision (referring to Sanju Samson’s lbw). In such a situation you don’t expect to bat before lunch and suddenly three-four wickets fall. It’s a pretty good lesson for us.”The spinners from both sides were more than a handful, with Kuldeep Yadav taking a hat-trick, but Arun said the pitch for the game against Scotland was not the reason for a collapse.”The devils were not in the pitch. It was in the mind,” Arun said. “If you look at Akhil’s (Herwadkar) shot, it was a wide ball and he played the cut but got the edge.”England are an unfamiliar opponent for India, for the teams have not played each other between the World Cups. Their last clash was in a one-dayer during the Quadrangular series in Townsville in 2012, which India won by 63 runs.In this tournament, England have played out a high percentage of dot balls – 178 and 189 against Sri Lanka and New Zealand respectively – and Arun said there were no specific plans to target their weaknesses.”Every team that plays well normally plays about 55% scoring shots and 45% dots,” Arun said. “Sometimes statistics don’t tell you anything. We’ll just focus on what we need to do and our bowlers to bowl on areas they need to bowl. If we do that, it is about trying to dictate what the batsman should be doing rather than looking at the batsman’s strengths.”India made two changes for their match against Papua New Guinea, bringing in Shreyas Iyer and Monu Kumar and the coach said the XI for the quarter-final will be decided after looking at the pitch.England trained at the Fairgrounds Oval in the Dubai Men’s College campus in the afternoon. They, too, could have entered the quarters with a 100%-win record had they not lost a nail-biter against Sri Lanka. Tim Boon, the England coach, said India will be their biggest test yet in playing under pressure.”Every team now has access to each other’s video footage,” Boon said. “It’s a great learning curve for our boys to see how they play under pressure.”India have been formidable over the last two seasons in whatever competition they have gone for, however we are focusing our attention in what we do well.”Boon said the high percentage of dot balls in their last two matches wasn’t an issue. Against New Zealand, England recovered from a slow 91 for 4 after 30 overs to 229 for 8.”What I liked about our batting was that we had some wickets till the end,” Boon said. “Then, we were able to up the strike-rate at the end. Yes, there were a couple of little learnings in that, but that’s the beauty about World Cup cricket – to test yourself against the best young talents in the world.”

كشفت صحيفة “ليفربول إيكو” البريطانية أن هناك قرارًا مهمًا من نادي ليفربول بعد طرد لاعبه، أليكسيس ماك أليستر، في مباراة بورنموث في الجولة الثانية من الدوري الإنجليزي.

وتحصل ماك أليستر على طرد في الشوط الثاني من مباراة ليفربول وبورنموث في الدقيقة 58 بسبب العنف ضد لاعب الخصم، كريستي.

وبحسب التقرير أن ليفربول قرر تقديم استئناف ضد الطرد على الأرجنتيني الدولي رسميًا، حيث كانت هناك اعتراضات من يورجن كلوب وبعض اللاعبين على القرار.

وبهذا القرار، سيحصل ماك أليستر على إيقاف لمدة 3 مباريات مقبلة في الدوري الإنجليزي مع ليفربول ولن يشارك أمام نيوكاسل يونايتد، أستون فيلا وولفرهامبتون.

ولم يطلب حكام تقنية الفيديو سواء بول تيرني أو مساعده قسطنطين هاتزيداكيس من الحكم الرئيسي، توماس برامال، مراجعة الحالة وأكدوا على القرار.

وسيراجع الاتحاد الإنجليزي لكرة القدم الحالة بالطبع وفقًا لأدلة ليفربول ضد القرار، ويمكنه التأكيد أو إلغاء الطرد ضد ماك أليستر.

لكن من المؤكد أن يغيب الأرجنتيني عن لقاء نيوكاسل يونايتد المقبل يوم، الأحد، على الأقل حتى يصدر القرار في الأسبوع القادم وإذا تم رفض الاستئناف سيغيب اللاعب عن 3 مباريات أخرى بخلاف اللقاء القادم وفقًا للائحة.

علق جيمي كاراجر، لاعب فريق ليفربول السابق، ومحلل شبكة سكاي سبورتس الحالي، على إمكانية بيع محمد صلاح نجم الريدز، إلى اتحاد جدة السعودي.

وارتبط محمد صلاح بالانتقال إلى اتحاد جدة خلال الانتقالات الصيفية الحالية، بعرض خرافي للاعب دون الكشف عن قيمته للنادي، لكن رد ليفربول كان قاطعا حيث يصر النادي على أن اللاعب ليس للبيع.

وأفادت “بي إن سبورتس” وتقارير أخرى، أن محمد صلاح موافق على الرحيل، لكن يتبقى موقف النادي وهو الذي يتمسك باللاعب خلال الموسم الحالي، خاصة بعد خسارة عدد من اللاعبين وعلى رأسهم روبرتو فيرمينو وفابينيو وجوردان هندرسون.

وخلال تصريحات تلفزيونية، قال كاراجر: “لن يتم بيعه مقابل 100 مليون جنيه إسترليني، ولكن إذا اقترب العرض من 150 مليونا أو أكثر فقد يفكر ليفربول في البيع خلال انتقالات الصيف المقبلة”.

وأضاف كاراجر خلال رده على جاري نيفيل: “عندما تتحدث عن 100 مليون جنيه إسترليني، فلا ينبغي عليهم حتى مناقشة ذلك، لكن 150 مليونا للاعب في عمره، عليك أن تأخذ العرض بعين الاعتبار”.

There was a time when Tim Bresnan was considered a lucky mascot for England. He tasted victory in each of his first 13 Tests – a record only bettered by Adam Gilchrist – and picked up a winner’s medal at his first major tournament when England won the 2010 World T20 in the Caribbean.The last couple of years have not been quite so rosy, as injuries interrupted his progression and then England entered a tailspin almost as soon as they touched down in Australia. He began that tour recovering from a back injury, missing the first two Tests, but alongside Stuart Broad he has been practically everywhere with England across three continents over the last five months.Reliable as Yorkshire tea, Bresnan is still one of the players England can wheel out to provide some pithy wisdom when the chips are down. They have endured a horrendous run, losing 17 matches out of 21 in all formats, but Bresnan is the sort of man who can say England believe they can win three in a row if they need to at the World T20 and sound like he means it.”We’re still confident,” he said. “Things haven’t gone our way over the last few months but we still believe we’re playing good cricket, turning out good performances. But stringing together everything at the same time is a problem for us. If we can find that spark and everything clicks, we can beat anyone in the world.””A couple of lads have been having good games, but you need three or four players to influence games and get you the win. We haven’t really been able to do that.”England’s next game is against Sri Lanka, who have won two from two and are one of the favourites for the title. There were some encouraging signs against New Zealand before rain – fractionally after the thunder and lightning – saw England end up on the wrong side of the Duckworth-Lewis equation again. The squad have been playing together for the last month, having toured the West Indies in preparation for the tournament, and Bresnan thinks they are not far from clicking.”It’s more of a mindset is T20. We certainly have the power players, we have everything in the armoury to win games of cricket,” Bresnan said. “We just can’t put our finger on why we’ve not been able to piece together a good performance.”We’ve been playing six weeks of T20. It’s been good, we’ve gelled as a team. I think we’re still confident in the dressing-room despite not winning many games. I think we all realise we need that win to kick us off – and we’ll be off and running.”Much has been made of England’s regeneration and Bresnan put as positive a spin as possible on their travails over the winter. “They say winning hides a multitude of sins and it can do that in your own performance as well as the team’s. It’s only when you lose, that’s only when you analyse in-depth stuff that has actually gone wrong or stuff that might have been going wrong for a while.”Questions have been asked of England’s skills in this format, which appear to have slipped as players from other countries hone their abilities in the more high-octane franchise leagues around the globe. Their somewhat frantic attempts to clear the ropes in the opening game against New Zealand were a partial success, with England recording the highest T20 score on the ground, but it still lacked one batsman stamping an indelible mark with a sizeable innings.”I don’t think that is the case,” Bresnan said, when asked if England were falling behind. “I still believe we’re doing the right things. We’re always analysing the footage of the good sides and seeing what the other lads are doing. It’s not necessarily trying to emulate them, it’s trying to put our own twist on a winning formula. We’re looking to do that over the course of the next three games.”Although the bowlers did not get much of an outing on Saturday, they will be under just as much scrutiny as the batsmen against Sri Lanka. A video compilation called ‘When Yorkers Go Wrong’ is surely waiting to be compiled and uploaded to YouTube but Bresnan is confident the delivery can be an important tool for England, even if bowlers are often accused of forgetting how to bowl them.”Yorker is the ball if you can get it right. As we’ve seen if you get it wrong it can disappear or go for an inside edge for four,” he said. “You have to practice but it is more mental than anything. It is a difficult ball to bowl when the pressure is on. You’re aiming at a four-inch square in front of the stumps and it’s not very easy to hit. I feel as though it is one of my biggest weapons and the more I can get it right, the more successful we will be.”

Uma briga entre dois grupos da Independente, principal torcida organizada do São Paulo, terminou com alguns torcedores feridos e muitos detidos antes do jogo do Tricolor contra o Cruzeiro, neste domingo, no Pacaembu.

A Polícia Militar ainda não divulgou uma contagem oficial, mas estima que sejam mais de 40 detidos, incluindo lideranças da torcida. Alguns foram levados para o 91º DP, enquanto outros ficaram no posto policial do próprio estádio.

​Já no sábado, havia nas redes sociais o alerta de que poderia ocorrer uma briga entre grupos da Independente. O confronto ocorreu em frente ao portão principal do Pacaembu e foi contido pela PM com bombas.

​Dentro do estádio, havia dois grupos da organizada: um na arquibancada amarela, como de praxe, e outro no tobogã.

​Antes de tudo isso, a Independente fez um protesto em frente ao Pacaembu no momento da chegada do ônibus do time. Leco, Raí, Reinaldo, Hudson, Nenê e Jucilei foram os alvos.

صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية، أكدت أن قادة ريال مدريد والمدرب كارلو أنشيلوتي، قرروا عدم التعاقد مع أي لاعب خلال فترة الانتقالات الصيفية الجارية، وربما تكون الحركة مستمرة بشأن المغادرين فقط.

We’ve been expecting you, Mr Singh. Many an India fan wanted Yuvraj Singh out because he had been plodding and prodding around this tournament even though he took most wickets and scored most runs for India between the two World Twenty20s. India, though, persisted with him, even giving him an extra chance at the expense of Shikhar Dhawan who made way for Ajinkya Rahane who simply had to be tried. Yuvraj struggled here again, reaching 13 off 21 before he exploded to end up with 60 off 43, showing just why MS Dhoni has shown so much faith in him. That innings provided a middling innings the acceleration it needed, after which R Ashwin’s wily spin triggered an almighty collapse from Australia, who were already out of the tournament and weren’t quite there in the chase.Pakistan’s win over Bangladesh earlier in the day had already knocked Australia out, but India still had a lot of interest in this match. All their previous wins had come winning the toss and bowling first, so they wanted to bat first and also wanted to play around with their combination a little. Rahane’s inclusion and Mohit Sharma’s were the decisions made before the toss, and even though Dhoni finally lost a toss – his first in 13 internationals – India got their wish when George Bailey inserted them in.India’s worst first 10 overs of the tournament followed as Rohit Sharma fell early, and Rahane and Virat Kohli failed to convert starts. Suresh Raina didn’t look at home either, and at 66 for 4 in the 12th over, India were struggling for the first time in the tournament. Yuvraj had only just about start timing the ball, and in the next over Brad Hodge provided him a long hop to get away a bit. James Muirhead came on to bowl the 14th. Australia’s spinners had suffocated India by then, conceding just 40 in seven overs.This time, though, the legspinner missed his length two balls in a row. You couldn’t have got away with that against the vintage Yuvraj. You couldn’t get away with that against this Yuvraj either. He sent them both sailing over midwicket for sixes. He had seen blood now. Some of his silken yet brutal shots came out in the end, most notable of which was his movement away from the stumps to get under a full ball outside leg and send it inside-out over long-off for six.All of a sudden, the bowlers were the ones fumbling, not sure where to bowl because missing the areas even by inches resulted in sixes. Seventy runs came in five overs starting with the 14th, and even though Yuvraj didn’t finish off in style he had given India what looked a fighting total, especially given the form of India’s attack.The only problem with the total was you had to make allowance for the fact that India were up against a side that had nothing to lose. It showed in how Aaron Finch threw his arms at the first ball of the chase, and got four for it. However, Australia were too reckless and India too disciplined for this to become a blitz of any sort. The daredevilry of a side that was on its way out was all there, but the execution wasn’t. After India had bowled a few tight overs at the top, keeping them down to 19 for 1 in four overs, it was all six or out.Yes, there were five sixes, but there were five dismissals doing that as Ashwin spun his way to the best figures by an Indian spinner in Twenty20 internationals, and Australia crashed to their third-worst defeat. Now if the New Zealand-Sri Lanka match is not washed out in the other group, India will face South Africa in the semi-final.

O meia-atacante Soteldo foi convocado pela Seleção da Venezuela, neste sábado, para a disputa da Copa América. O jogador, porém, não desfalcará o Santos nas últimas duas partidas do Brasileirão antes da parada para o torneio sul-americano.

A data da apresentação de Soteldo à Seleção Venezuelana será na próxima quinta-feira, um dia depois do duelo contra o Corinthians, na Vila Belmiro. Sendo assim, o atleta de 21 anos segue sendo opção do técnico Jorge Sampaoli.

O venezuelano foi convocado após a lesão sofrida de Adalberto Peñaranda contra o México nos últimos dias. A Venezuela estreia no próximo dia 15 diante do Peru, na Arena do Grêmio, pelo Grupo A, o mesmo de Brasil e Bolívia.

Além de Soteldo, o Santos teve o peruano Cueva e o atacante Derlis González para a disputa da Copa América. Ambos já desfalcaram o Peixe nos duelos contra o Ceará e o Atlético-MG.
