Jack Harrison has been in scintillating form as of late.

Indeed, the winger has assisted four goals in his last five appearances for Leeds United as the Whites have continued to mount their assault on the top two.

The Manchester City loanee has shown a marked improvement since his first spell with the Elland Road outfit, and one former United player believes that his value will skyrocket if he keeps up these good performances.

What’s been said then?

Speaking to Football Insider, former Leeds man Noel Whelan stated that he believes Harrison will worth a substantial amount next summer if his good form continues, hailing his impact and the areas of his game that have seemingly got better.

“Harrison’s turning into a gem. He’s fitter, stronger, more confident and has more belief in his ability. You need to have belief in your ability to shine at the highest level and we’re starting to see that from him.

“He works tirelessly and does superb things for the team. Now he is adding assists to his game, and is starting to win matches.

“Marcelo Bielsa has showed enormous faith in him and he’s been transformed. I expect him to be worth £15million by the end of the season if this continues. He’s unlikely to be in Man City’s squad next season so he could make a permanent move.”

Must exercise option to buy

If Whelan’s prediction rings true, Leeds simply must exercise their option to buy Harrison.

At the moment, it’s unknown what the price tag attached to making the winger’s loan deal a permanent one is, but it’s hard to see it being any more than the £15m that Whelan reckons he’s worth.

After all, that’s the fee Helder Costa is set to move to Elland Road on a permanent basis for next summer – a value that’s quite considerable for a side in the Championship.

Aged just 22 there’s even more scope for the former NYCFC man to grow and improve, and if his value increases even further Leeds will be kicking themselves if they don’t tie him down permanently.

His form in recent times has shown just how crucial he is, becoming one of their most consistent players. On that evidence, securing his services for the future is of utmost importance.

وواصل: “يتطلب نصف نهائي دوري الأبطال تقديم أفضل ما لدى الفريق، لقد فاتنا إنهاء الهجمات بالشكل الصحيح، أعتقد أنه بشكل عام كان أداؤنا جيدًا”.

وأردف: “بنزيما سجل هدفًا رائعًا، إنه مهاجم جيد جدًا، لقد حصل على الكرة وسجل، علينا أن نكون حذرين في المباراة المقبلة، أعتقد أننا جميعًا يمكننا التحسن والنمو سويًا”.

وعن هدف كريستيان بوليسيتش، قال أزبيليكويتا: “لقد كان إنهاءً رائعًا للهجمة، أظهر رباطة جأش رائعة، إنه لاعب رائع وشاب، يتطور ويتحسن، أنا سعيد جدًا بهدفه لأنه لاعب مهم للفريق”.

Leeds United fans on Twitter have been critical of Victor Orta after the club were linked with a move for Middlesbrough centre-back Daniel Ayala.

The Whites fanbase have complained that the Spaniard is simply being lazy in going for another player from his former employers.

The trend of Leeds signing former Middlesbrough players has been rather noticeable since Orta joined the ranks at Elland Road as the Whites have brought in the likes of Adam Forshaw and Patrick Bamford in recent years.

A number of supporters were on board with the suggested signing of Ayala, but it seems that they’re sick of the lack of imagination being shown by the club in going for another Boro man.

Whether or not this deal actually gets done remains to be seen, but Leeds certainly have the links to make it happen.

West Ham United will have taken heart from Marko Arnautovic’s awful display for Austria on Saturday night.

The Hammers, of course, sold the striker to Shanghai SIPG for a fee of around £22.4m in the summer transfer window.

They accepted a reduced fee for his signature because of his behaviour over two transfer windows and he will not have been wholly visible to many supporters while playing in the Chinese Super League.

However, he started Austria’s Euro 2020 qualifying win over North Macedonia on Saturday and turned in an execrable performance.

Per SofaScore, he had three shots off target, missed two big chances and failed to even once trouble the opposition goalkeeper.

Arnautovic also contested 10 ground duels and won just two of them, while conceding four fouls and being flagged offside three times.

No player on the pitch was given a lower rating than his 5.9, as he spent the 90 minutes covered in something approaching a cloak of invisibility.

This just goes to prove that being enigmatic does not always mean you will change the game with a phenomenal piece of skill.

Indeed, it appears quite the opposite in this case, with Arnautovic barely involved in the play – he had just 41 touches.

He also failed to have a shot on goal and, for a lone striker that is as bad as it gets.

At club level, he has scored four goals in 12 games; his replacement, Sebastian Haller, has the same number in 11 games.

One has to feel that Hammers fans will have breathed a sigh of relief after seeing their former charge’s awful outing; he certainly isn’t missed.

Tottenham Hotspur have a new coach at the helm and everyone is undoubtedly eager to see how he takes his squad forward.

Of course, Jose Mourinho is a man who doesn’t really need much of an introduction at all but even for a big manager like him, this could pose a real challenge.

After all, Spurs are currently in shambles, sitting 14th in the table and with a squad that doesn’t really ooze confidence.

His first game in charge, however, will be against West Ham United on the weekend – a team that’s in a rather similar situation, seeing how they are 16th in the table and not looking to improve drastically any time soon.

And upon seeing Mourinho’s appointment, many West Ham fans are not really confident looking forward to their next clash with Spurs and they fear the derby might be a lost cause.

Of course, there are others who don’t think the Portugese’s presence will make a difference at all and some are optimistic and hopeful that the Hammers can get something out of that match.

Sheffield Wednesday’s poor run of form continued on Wednesday evening as they slumped to a fifth straight game without victory.

At least for once, they weren’t rueing a late goal, but instead, fans were left absolutely reeling from the performance of one player in particular.

Birmingham City opened the scoring soon after halftime when he arrived at the near post to turn in a low cross before Garry Monk needed heroics from Kadeem Harris nine minutes from time as his 20-yard effort somehow found its way past the visiting goalkeeper.

Adam Reach’s performance clearly left a lot to be desired as several members of the Hillsborough crowd launched a tirade of comments at him on social media.

One supporter labelled the 26-year-old as an ‘absolute waste of space’ while another brandished him a ‘headless chicken.’

Other fans hoped to see the back of the winger in January with a further Owls man joking that Reach should be made the kit man instead.
