Tottenham Could Sign Next Dele In "Magnificent" £35m Target

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to add even more firepower to their side this summer, with Ange Postecoglou having honed in on another creative target.

Who are Tottenham Hotspur signing this summer?

Having already welcomed James Maddison and Manor Solomon into the fold, many might assume that the Lilywhites' front line was sufficiently bolstered with the new season approaching.

However, according to FootballTransfers, they are now in talks with Lyon prodigy Rayan Cherki over a potential switch to the English capital.

Whilst they are set to battle with Chelsea for his signature, the financial troubles surrounding the French club could propose a cut-price fee in order to boost their coffers. As such, the Blues are reportedly preparing a €40m (£35m) offer, with interest in an exit thought to be high.

Representatives of the player have been in London touting his services, as if to emphasise this stance.

Who is Rayan Cherki?

Having been one of France's brightest footballing prospects for many years now, the 19-year-old seems poised for his big move that could take his career to the next level. It would be the natural progression for the teenage sensation who has been consistently thriving in Ligue 1.

Just last season saw the maestro post ten goal contributions in the league, having enjoyed his best goalscoring and creative campaign across his entire short career.

Such an ability to do both with such finesse, plus his youth, two-footedness, ability to dribble and scything passing range, all combine to draw startling comparisons with former Spurs wonderkid Dele Alli.

Although his career has somewhat stagnated of late, with his recent interview with Gary Neville bravely revealing the hardships that explain his troubles, few will forget how the MK Dons graduate burst onto the scene at White Hart Lane.

A return of 18 goals and nine assists in just his second Premier League season saw him take the division by storm, with Mauricio Pochettino even labelling him as the best young player in the world in 2018.

dele-tottenham-hotspur

His youth fed into his fearlessness, as he conquered every stage set out for him before recently joining Everton in a bid to recapture that form.

In the meantime, Cherki could provide the reanimated version of the former England international, with all the traits that made Dele so special plus some added trickery that has seen him feature off the flank at times.

Football scout Jacek Kulig outlined such qualities just last month, showcasing his key attributes during one performance before writing:

"The youngest member of this French Dream Team. Magnificent talent."

Eurosport France's Martin Mosnier would supplement a notion, claiming:

"He’s really an attacking midfielder although he can also play as a left winger. Cherki is an exceptional dribbler, one of the first things one notices when watching him is that he appears to be ambipedal, as he can seemingly utilise both feet equally well.

“His strengths are as follows: key passes, dribbling and his ability to create something out of nothing."

The latter of these attributes could perfectly encapsulate the bulk of Dele's career in north London, with his stunning finish against Crystal Palace in 2016 acting as a perfect microcosm for such a talent.

dele

With the ball lofted infield, the 27-year-old took one deft touch, before the second lifted it over the onrushing defender. As he spun and swung his right boot at it, he caught the ball on the volley from just outside the area, watching it laser into the bottom left corner of the net. Selhurst Park has astounded, having witnessed such imperious quality from a player who was just 19 years old.

Many Spurs fans will be willing on their former star to reignite his career at Goodison Park, especially after the tear-jerking interview posted just over a week ago.

However, Cherki would denote a perfect alternative for them to get behind once again, who has all the qualities capable of replicating the feat that made the world stand up and take note of Dele.

Klinger's hundred goes unrewarded as Hampshire steal in

Michael Klinger’s masterly unbeaten century was to no avail as Hampshire stole a rain-affected win to leapfrog Gloucestershire in South Group

Spinners Mason Crane and Liam Dawson fared best of the Hampshire attack. In reply, the visitors raced to 121 for 3 off 11.4 overs, with openers James Vince (42) and Rilee Rossouw (46 not out) putting together a stand of 85 in eight overs, having needed to be on 97 under DLS when heavy rain put an end to proceedings. The result saw Hampshire leapfrog their opponents in the tightly congested South Group.Klinger needed one moment of good fortune after losing the toss. By the end of the Powerplay the total read 59 without loss, Vince leading the way on 39.Rossouw hit successive sixes over mid-wicket off the usually economical Benny Howell and by the time Vince got an inside edge off Perera to be caught behind, having faced 30 balls, the rain was getting heavy.Carberry, batting with a runner and a pronounced limp, lofted Noema-Barnett over long-on for another maximum and repeated the dose off Tom Smith as Hampshire stayed comfortably ahead of the required rate.Matt Taylor gave Gloucestershire hope by pinning Carberry lbw for 20 and then having George Bailey caught behind down the legs-side in the 11th overBut by the next over the driving rain finally sent the players from the field. Hampshire were well in control, Rossouw, having faced 27 balls and hit 4 fours and 2 sixes. With the public address system playing Cliff Richard’s Summer Holiday, drenched spectators headed for the exits.

Southampton: "Incredible" player interested in joining

Sunderland striker sees a potential move to Southampton as a 'very exciting proposition' according to journalist Dean Jones .

New boss Russell Martin sees the Scottish forward as the ideal man to lead the Saint's frontline as they look to return to the Premier League at the first attempt following their relegation last season

Is Ross Stewart leaving Sunderland this summer?

The Sunderland forward, who was hailed as "incredible", could well be calling time on his career in the North East this summer.

Following his move from the Scottish Premiership in the January of 2021, the forward has made 81 appearances for the North East club, scoring 40 goals and averaging almost a goal every other game, which is a fine record for a forward, with his 21/22 League One campaign being the best of his career, with the Scottish striker recording 29 goal contributions in 49 games as the club won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.

Sunderland striker Ross Stewart.

The 2022/23 season was a strange one for the forward however, with the 16-year-old struggling with recurring injury problems that limited him to just 15 appearances across all competitions last season. Despite the limited number of games the forward shone, recording 14 goal contributions in those 15 games and showcasing that should he be able to get over his thigh problems and his Achilles Tendon injury, he could be one of the division's most dangerous hitmen.

According to reports, the South Coast side maintains an interest in the forward in the case that one of their current forwards departs the club this summer, with current player Che Adams reportedly attracting the interest of Premier League side Fulham. The report also states that the Black Cats could cash in on the former Ross County player with the player having entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Stadium of Light. The striker is also the subject of a lot of interest from Championship clubs, with Middlesbrough and Stoke City exploring the possibilities of a deal this window, however, the club's £10m price tag may force a number of suitors to pull out of the race due to financial constraints.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones revealed that the Saints don't plan on remaining in the Championship for long, and that ambition could be a driving factor in convincing the Scotland striker to choose St Mary's this summer: "Southampton aren't going to be in the Championship for very long. The model they've built over the years is too good to drop away.

I really don't believe that this is a club that's going to allow themselves to stay in the Championship for more than a year. That is a very exciting proposition for a player like Stewart, who is on the rise and looking for a step-up not just in terms of playing quality, but his profile and a way of getting into the Premier League."

Who will Ross Stewart play with at Southampton?

A number of the squad's key players from last season's Premier League campaign may depart before Stewart can play a game with them.

According to a report on GIVEMESPORT, a number of senior players are expected to depart this summer, with the like of James Ward-Prowse, Romeo Lavia and Kyle Walker-Peters mentioned as possible departures.

The young Belgian is attracting the biggest interest this window, with Premier League giants Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea all interested in securing the former Manchester City youth player's signature this summer. The midfielder received high praise last season for his performances, with Manchester United legend Paul Scholes saying: "I was surprised when City let him go I think he is good enough potentially, he is only 18 years old maybe hold him back a bit. He has chosen to move on, and I think he is a player with so much potential, and he could potentially go back, but he has settled in so well."

Club captain Ward-Prowse also looks set to end his tenure at St Mary's this summer, with reports stating that West Ham United have earmarked the midfielder as a potential Declan Rice replacement following move to Arsenal. The 28-year-old has made over 400 appearances for the South Coast side and will depart as a club legend. The same report also states that right-back Tino Livramento is closing in on a move to Newcastle United this summer for a fee in the region of £30m.

West Ham In The Mix To Sign 24-Year-Old Japan Star This Summer

West Ham are reportedly battling with Fulham for the signing of Fortuna Dusseldorf midfielder Ao Tanaka this summer, according to a fresh update.

Who is Ao Tanaka?

The 24-year-old is currently plying his trade with Dusseldorf in Germany, making 39 starts in the Bundesliga 2 over the past two seasons, shining at the heart of his side's midfield. He has also won 19 caps at international level for Japan, scoring three goals in that time and also appearing three times at the 2022 World Cup, starting two of his country's matches.

It could be that Tanaka is interested in a move away from Dusseldorf during the current transfer window, however, even though his current deal there doesn't expire until the end of the 2024/25 season. A move to a top league is likely to appeal, and it looks as though a switch to the Premier League could potentially be on the cards in the coming weeks.

That's where West Ham come into play, as David Moyes aims to conduct some strong transfer business before the start of the 2023/24 campaign, looking to build on their fantastic UEFA Europa Conference League success last term.

Would West Ham sign Ao Tanaka this summer?

According to Rheinische Post [via Sport Witness], the Hammers are in the conversation to sign Tanaka this summer, but they won't have a clear path when it comes to snapping him up. Fulham are also credited with interest, with West Ham's London rivals also eyeing squad reinforcements with the new Premier League season looming.

It is reportedly "no secret" that Dusseldorf expect to lose the Japan international in the near future because he himself "wants to leave" in the current window. Only €3m (£2.5m) would supposedly be required to prise him away from his current team, making it a cheap piece of business.

Tanaka wouldn't necessarily be a marquee signing by West Ham in the summer, considering he isn't exactly a household name, but he could be a shrewd addition who help fill some of the void left by Declan Rice, assuming his big-money move to Arsenal is eventually announced sooner rather than later.

He has proven himself at a World Cup, averaging one tackle and aerial duel win apiece as last year's tournament, and he is at a good age to come in and bolster the Hammers' squad options, potentially maturing as a player over time and also excelling alongside better players to the ones at Dusseldorf.

In fact, Tanaka was even handed the Player of the Match award after Japan's unforgettable 2-1 victory over Spain at the World Cup, in which he score the winning goal and generally excelled throughout – this should excite West Ham fans who could otherwise potentially feel underwhelmed about the east Londoners signing him.

Granted, signing him alone won't help make up for the incoming huge loss of Rice, who has been such a dominant performer in the middle of the park over the years, but it is a case of finding a number of quality new players in that area, in order to fully make up for his exit.

Farbrace praises Captain Morgan for leading England's stunning revival

Eoin Morgan “is the single biggest factor in England’s success in white-ball cricket over the last two years”, according to the team’s assistant coach, Paul Farbrace

George Dobell at Edgbaston08-Jun-2017Eoin Morgan “is the single biggest factor” in England’s success in white-ball cricket over the last two years, according to the team’s assistant coach, Paul Farbrace.Morgan, the side’s captain, could easily have been sacked after leading England through a dismal World Cup campaign at the start of 2015. Not only was the team knocked out at the group stages, but Morgan himself suffered a run of form in which he scored just two runs from four ODI innings at one stage and five ducks in 11 innings at another.Instead, the team management recognised that he had inherited the position in far-from-ideal circumstances – just a few weeks before the tournament when Alastair Cook was sacked just before Christmas – and retained faith in his leadership. It is a decision that has paid off. While the England team are only No. 5 in the ICC’s ODI rankings, their white-ball cricket has been revolutionised. They were the first team in this tournament to qualify for the semi-finals, they reached the final of the World T20 last year, and they have – among an array of broken records – set the highest ODI total in history: 444 for 3 against Pakistan in Nottingham last August. It is all a far cry from the stuttering mess of the World Cup campaign.”I think Eoin Morgan is the single biggest factor in England’s success in white-ball cricket over the last two years,” Farbrace said. “Andrew Strauss took a lot of credit in that he talked about the emphasis being on white-ball cricket. And Trevor Bayliss has come in as a very experienced coach, and been very successful in white-ball cricket.”But for me, Eoin Morgan is the single biggest factor.”The resurgence started at Edgbaston, the scene of Saturday’s Group A showdown with Australia. Coming out of a World Cup campaign in which New Zealand had thrashed England in Wellington with embarrassing ease – there were an eye-watering 226 deliveries of the New Zealand innings remaining when they completed an eight-wicket victory – you might have expected confidence to be low.But Morgan revived flagging spirits, welcomed in new faces and insisted that – come what may – England should look for the positive option. Despite losing a wicket to the first ball of the match, and another in the eighth over, Morgan attacked from the start and, with Joe Root and Jos Buttler contributing centuries, helped lay the platform for a total of 408.So, as England return to the ground to take on Australia, it was only natural that Farbrace’s mind should look back on the seeds of the recovery.”We all thought we were doing the right thing at the World Cup,” Farbrace said. “And quite clearly we weren’t.”We made some mistakes, we didn’t play with much confidence. We were all part of it, and I was fortunate I was one of the ones that continued.”At the time the thought was that Australia and New Zealand were the first two games, we should get them out of the way. Then win the rest of our games and qualify for the quarter-final and build momentum for the semi-finals.”But I don’t think we ever recovered from those two games. I think the mauling we took from Australia in Melbourne, and then the absolute hammering from the Kiwis, it knocked the confidence of all of us, players and staff. Then it became a very tough few weeks.”In the build-up to that game here at Edgbaston, where we got 400, Eoin talked to the players about going and playing their own way and backing themselves to play their own way. His words at that stage were ‘go and play, go and back yourself to play. We’re right behind you and there’ll be no one getting stuck into you if you come out having played an ordinary shot’.”Then he went out and did exactly that in the first game. And then he continued to do so throughout the series. I think players started saying ‘It’s okay to do it … not only is he saying it, but he’s actually living it, doing it’.

Everton Told To Pay £17m In Advance For La Liga Attacker

Everton may have to stump up some cash if they want to sign El Bilal Toure this summer, with IDEAL via Sport Witness reporting that Almeria want at least £17m upfront to do business for the player.

Who is El Bilal Toure?

The 21-year-old only joined current side Almeria at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign, but has already become a frequent member of their squad. He wasn't a regular starter, but still managed to get onto the field for 21 La Liga outings over the course of the season, with 15 starts. Even more impressive though is that the attacker managed seven goals and two assists in those appearances. It means that the Mali international had a rate of 0.64 goals or assists per 90 – the best effort of his career to date.

His goal haul is also the best of his league career. He broke onto the scene with Reims as a 17-year-old and went on to bag just nine goals and five assists during four seasons and 64 Ligue 1 outings with them, hailed as a "major talent" last summer by 90min's Graeme Bailey. In just one campaign with his new Spanish team, he has already nearly bettered that haul. In addition, his goals per 90 rate in La Liga of 0.50 actually puts him within the top ten in that statistic in the entire division.

It shows that the youngster is already proving to be prolific in front of goal and whilst his total isn't in double-digits, considering the amount of time he was on the field, it is actually a solid total.

Are Everton signing El Bilal Toure?

That has now led to interest already in signing the striker this summer. Everton have been one of the teams that have placed Toure on their transfer radar, with the Toffees now prepared to stump up the player's release clause of €40m (£34m) to get a deal over the line. However, the saga is continuing to go on this transfer window.

Almeria forward El Bilal Toure.

Now, according to a report from IDEAL via Sport Witness, Almeria are unhappy with the agreement that the Premier League side want to strike up for the Mali man. It appears that Everton want to try and pay for the striker in instalments but would also like to sign him on loan with a compulsory clause to buy him at the end of the agreement. The Spanish outfit do "not value" that approach and also would rather not sit out of the money for the 21-year-old unless there is a significant payment upfront. That fee is around the €20m (£17m) mark.

It means that if the Toffees do want to sign the youngster to an agreement this summer, then they will have to stump up more money in advance than they probably would have hoped for. Almeria want at least half of his current release clause this window to consider any potential transfer and with the English side not in the best financial position, that might not suit them.

However, if they can find the funds to get a deal done that would involve them paying the rest in instalments, they would be landing a player with potential. Toure hitting the rankings for his goal scoring in La Liga already shows that he knows where the back of the net is and some more first-team football could really allow him to start hitting double-digit totals – so a move could be one to watch.

Sunrisers aim to break Eden duck

Kolkata Knight Riders have a perfect home record against Sunrisers Hyderabad, who will be looking to change that with their strong bowling line-up

The only match they lost was the Eliminator, where Sunrisers won by 22 runs on their way to a maiden IPL title.Overall: Knight Riders have won six out of the nine matches between the two sides. At Eden Gardens, their record stands at four wins in four matches.Form guide

Knight Riders (second): beat Gujarat Lions by 10 wickets; lost to Mumbai Indians by four wickets; beat Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad (third): beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 35 runs; beat Gujarat Lions by nine wickets; lost to Mumbai Indians by four wickets.

In the newsMoises Henriques missed Sunrisers’ last match due to an illness, after scoring successive fifties in the first two. A team source said he trained with them on the eve of the match but the only spot available to him might be Ben Cutting’s. David Warner is the captain, Mustafizur Rahman is likely to get a longer run and Rashid Khan has performed impressively enough to stay in the XI.For Knight Riders, Trent Boult’s early form could be a source of concern. The New Zealand quick has been unlucky, with fielders having missed catches off his bowling in the last two matches. He has also conceded 123 runs for one wicket so far with an economy rate of 10.39, the third poorest among those who have bowled more than 10 overs this season, after Ashok Dinda (11.9) and Mitchell McClenaghan (10.75).The Knight Riders’ middle order has not had much to do in two of their three games so far. That might change, given the potency of Sunrisers’ attack. With Chris Lynn still recovering from a shoulder injury, KKR might look to fill his spot with an allrounder. Colin de Grandhomme performed the role on Thursday, but he could face competition from Shakib Al Hasan and Rovman Powell, whose playing style has been likened to Andre Russell’s by the franchise’s CEO.Likely XIsSunrisers Hyderabad: 1 Shikhar Dhawan, 2 David Warner (capt), 3 Deepak Hooda, 4 Yuvraj Singh, 5 Ben Cutting / Moises Henriques, 6 Naman Ojha (wk), 7 Vijay Shankar / Bipul Sharma, 8 Rashid Khan, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Ashish Nehra, 11 Mustafizur RahmanKolkata Knight Riders: 1 Gautam Gambhir (capt), 2 Robin Uthappa (wk), 3 Manish Pandey, 4 Yusuf Pathan, 5 Suryakumar Yadav, 6 Colin de Grandhomme / Shakib Al Hasan / Rovman Powell, 7 Chris Woakes, 8 Sunil Narine, 9 Piyush Chawla, 10 Umesh Yadav, 11 Trent BoultStats Barring Lasith Malinga, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the most successful bowler in the last five overs against Knight Riders in the IPL. The Sunrisers seamer has struck 13 times in this period and averages 8.92 runs per dismissal. In the 2017 IPL, Sunrisers have the second-best economy rate in the slog overs – 7.65 – and the second-highest wicket tally (10). Knight Riders, despite taking eight wickets, have conceded runs at 10.44 runs per over. David Warner and Gautam Gambhir hold the record for the most half-centuries (centuries excluded) in IPL. Gambhir brought up his 33rd against Kings XI Punjab on Thursday. Sunil Narine’s economy rate of 7.06 is second-best among spinners who have bowled at least 40 overs in the IPL since 2015. However, his average and strike rate – which were 16.13 and 16.7, respectively, the best for spinners before 2015 – have dropped to 30.60 and 26 respectively. The only Knight Riders batsmen Mustafizur Rahman has dismissed in the IPL so far are Jason Holder and Andre Russell. Against Gambhir, Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan, combined, Mustafizur has bowled 43 balls and given away 62 runs. There isn’t much difference between the overall run-rates of Sunrisers and Knight Riders in the last five overs – 9.14 and 9.29 respectively. However, in head-to-head encounters, Sunrisers have only scored at a rate of 7.96, their lowest against any team. Knight Riders, meanwhile, have managed to score at a rate of 9.24 in the last five overs against Sunrisers.

USACA rejects ICC-approved constitution

USACA has announced that its members had voted to ratify a different version of a revised constitution that had “minor edits” from the version approved by the ICC.

Peter Della Penna11-Apr-2017The USA Cricket Association announced, in a series of tweets, that its members have voted against ratifying an ICC-approved version of a revised constitution at a special general meeting in New York on Saturday. Instead, USACA announced that its members had voted to ratify a different version of a revised constitution that had “minor edits” from the version approved by the ICC.Among the differences in the two versions were that the ICC version called for an independent chairman of the board for the first three years following the constitutional reforms, with that person not having held any prior administrative role in cricket. In a press release ahead of last weekend’s SGM, USACA said its own version would not have this stipulation and criticised its inclusion in the ICC version as evidence of “complete mistrust for the entire USA cricket community” as well as calling it “patently anti-democratic.”The ICC version also suggested three individual directors elected under a voting process open to all members nationwide with one league director elected by member leagues. USACA’s proposed constitution would flip that, with three league directors and one individual director. Under the current USACA constitution, only member leagues get a vote in general elections and not individual members. The ICC-approved constitution vote also called for new elections to take place in September with a new board in place by October 2017, while the USACA constitution guidelines call the next election to take place in February 2018, allowing for the current executive board headed by president Gladstone Dainty to continue their three-year term which began in 2015.”Whilst much of the alternative constitution proposed by USACA is based on the governance structure proposed by the [Sustainable Foundation Advisory Group] and ICC Board, there are certain key elements missing that are central to the ability of a future USACA being effective at unifying all of the stakeholders of the sport in the USA,” the ICC declared in a statement ahead of the USACA SGM.”These issues have been made very clear to USACA, and the ICC Board will be considering the outcome of the 8 April SGM as well as the status of USACA’s compliance with all other reinstatement conditions as part of its determination of USACA’s future position as a member of the ICC, and whether to propose a motion to expel, reinstate or otherwise, at its April Board meeting.”Forty-five member leagues were declared eligible to vote at the SGM in a list announced by USACA two days before the meeting. USACA’s current constitution says that new members must go through a one-year provisional period prior to being eligible to vote on any measures but the list appeared to include as many as ten new members, none of which had been announced in any of USACA’s board meeting minutes that have been publicly released. The list of new members includes American Cricket Academy & Club, USA Global Cricket Academy, Florida West Coast Winter League, The Friendship League, and World Wide Cricket Academy. Also, two leagues – North Texas Cricket Association and Northern California Cricket Association – were given multiple votes, one each for the standard league competition and a second for a T20 competition. Many other leagues run a 40-over competition and a T20 competition but do not receive separate votes for each. The list of member leagues noticeably did not include some of the biggest leagues across the country who were previously listed as members of USACA. They include the Cricket League of New Jersey, the Midwest Cricket Conference and the Southern California Cricket Association.Ratifying a new constitution was one of 39 terms and conditions laid out by the ICC in order for USACA to be reinstated from their current suspension, which has been in effect since June 2015. ICC had warned USACA that failure to ratify the ICC-approved version of the constitution by an April 1 deadline may result in a motion being tabled at an ICC board meeting later this month to vote on USACA being expelled as an Associate Member. If the motion is tabled and approved, a vote to expel USACA could take place as soon as the ICC Annual Conference in June. It is expected that ICC Americas administrators led by USA project manager Eric Parthen would then continue to run US cricket affairs in a caretaker role until a solution can be reached.USACA was one of the two original Associate Members – along with Fiji – to become part of the ICC when membership was first expanded beyond Test Members in 1965. However, they have been saddled with administrative difficulties since the turn of the millennium. USACA’s current suspension is their third since 2005.

Man United Takeover News; Sheikh Jassim Deal To Be Completed

Sheikh Jassim’s bid to take over at Manchester United from the Glazers will be settled imminently, according to reports in Qatar.

What’s the latest Man United takeover news?

Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been the front runners to take control at Old Trafford this year after the Glazers first put the club up for sale in November 2022.

The Qatar group led by Jassim has made five separate bids for the Red Devils, with the latest coming last month and was his final offer. His proposal is for 100% of the club and would clear Man United's debt, while also setting up a separate fund for the club and local community.

However, it has gone relatively quiet since that bid went in, although there was speculation that Jassim was in pole position to secure a takeover. It looks as if there could now be a big development around the corner at Old Trafford, with Qatari outlet Raya providing an update on Tuesday.

It is ‘expected that the Manchester United purchase contract will be signed by the Glazer family that owns the club within the next few hours’, with Jassim set to win the race ahead of competition from Ratcliffe.

The Qatari group ‘have now begun to express their confidence in the victory, and they believe that it is only a matter of time before the official announcement is made’.

Who could Sheikh Jassim sign for Man United?

Should Jassim’s takeover go through as which now is to be expected, it could help Erik ten Hag and United in the current transfer window. Jassim previously wanted 'things done quickly' so he could help Ten Hag in the transfer market, and it looks as if he has big plans at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have brought in Mason Mount from Chelsea in a deal worth a total of £60m, and it looks as if a new goalkeeper is next on the agenda.

Ten Hag’s former goalkeeper at Ajax, Andre Onana, now at Inter Milan, is seemingly the top target to replace David de Gea, with personal terms already agreed. A new verbal proposal of €45m looks set to be made to Inter Milan, although the Serie A side are holding out for €60m.

Should Onana arrive after Mount, a new striker could be looked at, and Jassim seemingly wants to make a sensational statement signing to bring Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe to Old Trafford. Reports have suggested that Jassim feels that the France superstar ‘belongs at Old Trafford’, with the forward into the final 12 months of his PSG contract.

Jassim could look to make an immediate impact, should a takeover go through, however, Mike Keegan has claimed that there could be an approval wait of up to 12 weeks, which may throw a spanner in the works for the Qatari group and result in the Galzers officially remaining in control at the start of the 2023/24 season, but the good news is that it looks like they are about to be named winners of the takeover race.

ESPNcricinfo staff03-Mar-2017A sterling batting effort from Delhi, in which they plundered 356 for 5, proved more than enough for Tripura at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Rishabh Pant struck a 72-ball 99, an innings that featured nine fours and five sixes. Dhruv Shorey (74 off 81) and Milind Kumar (72 off 48) pushed Delhi past 350. Shikhar Dhawan (18) and Gautam Gambhir (37) had added a 59-run opening stand to set a strong platform for Delhi. An unbeaten century from Yashpal Singh, 115 off 117 balls, kept Tripura in the hunt for the majority of the chase, but the middle and lower order failed to contribute much as Delhi’s bowlers kept chipping away. Opener Bishal Ghosh struck 59 off 68 balls. In the end, Tripura fell 70 runs short after finishing with 286 for 8. Fast bowler Suboth Bhati took three wickets.Dinesh Karthik and B Aparajith struck quickfire fifties to lead Tamil Nadu’s cruise past Kerala by six wickets in Bhubaneshwar to move to second on the Group B points table, tied with Maharashtra on 16 points. Karthik struck 15 fours in his 68-ball 88, while Aparajith was more sedate, taking 91 balls to accumulate 74. The pair added 145 runs in 135 balls. Tamil Nadu raced to their target of 231 with 64 balls remaining. Fast bowler Sandeep Warrier picked up all four wickets to fall. Tamil Nadu’s success though, was set up in the first half, restricting Kerala to just 230 from 50 overs. Spinners Rahil Shah, Aparajith and Washington Sundar conceded just 87 runs in 30 overs between them. Batting at No. 6, Sanju Samson hammered an 89-ball 84, featuring six fours and three sixes. Salman Nizar struck a 36-ball 49 to prop Kerala’s innings up in the end overs. The last 12 overs leaked 117 runs.A 249-run opening stand between Prashant Gupta and Shivam Chaudhary helped Uttar Pradesh put on 370 for 5, a total they defended by 104 runs against Maharashtra in Cuttack. The result snapped Maharashtra’s unbeaten run in the competition. Gupta hammered 12 fours and four sixes in his 117-ball 129, while Chaudhary struck 116 off 115 balls. Brisk contributions from Eklavya Dwivedi (33 off 27 balls) and Rinku Singh (37 off 15 balls) resulted in Uttar Pradesh hitting 64 runs in the last five overs. Fifties from Kedar Jadhav (68), Ruturaj Gaikwad (59) and Rahul Tripathi (57), all at a strike rate of over 120, gave Maharashtra hope, but legspinner Piyush Chawla’s 5 for 50 closed the game out for Uttar Pradesh.
